Hey, Shar, why do you narrate audiobooks?
I’ve narrated over 30 audiobooks in a wide variety of genres from YA sci-fi to self-help. You can find most on Audible under SL Albert and a few vanilla romances under my pseudonym Lanna Saunders.
When I’m not in the booth, I love reading mysteries, fantasy, science fiction, and non-fiction. My TBR of books and audiobooks is haunting me! Blame my mom; she cultivated my love of reading by surprising me on Fridays with a new book. I grew from Laurie and the Yellow Curtains and Sam the Firehouse Cat as a little girl to a teen obsessed with Agatha Christie and Stephen King (what a mix, I know!)
And now, as a mom myself, I’ve shared my love of reading with my children. Since my kids are ten years apart, I have read and re-read some of the same popular series. I could probably act out a good portion of them (I’m looking at you, Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen, among others.) When we weren’t reading books, we would make up bedtime stories with dogs, princes, princesses, and other fun characters.
I’ve acted on stage, performed with an improv troupe and even volunteered as a DJ for a college radio station (back before everything was digital; I’ve spliced tape!) I love narrating audiobooks because it combines my love of reading with my passion for storytelling and acting. And I often learn a lot along the way!
